Service Learning Trips are an important cornerstone of Youth Ministries here at First Church. Each year, teams of teen volunteers travel to distant locations to devote their time, sweat, and spirit to important service projects. We hope that all First Church teens have the opportunity to participate in these beautiful ( but not always easy) life changing excursions!
2016 Youth Service Trip to Pine Ridge South Dakota - Eighteen participants left Windsor CT this past July for the windy and rolling hills of the Pine Ridge Lakota Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. For one week they worked to insulate trailers, build and deliver bunk beds, construct ADA accessible wheelchair ramps and decks, and dig outhouses for homes without running water or other utilities. Each day, our kids met with tribal leaders and elders to learn about Lakota culture and life on the reservation. Thanks to all our participants, parents, and supporters who contributed to this amazing experience!
