Middle Schoolers are welcome in the Youth Room after the Children’s Moment in worship every Sunday. Our Middle School class offers a place of welcome, conversation, and a chance to learn about and explore our faith.
High Schoolers are encouraged to be involved and active in the life of our church and volunteer with our younger kids by helping in the nursery or with our Elementary Church School classes. High Schoolers are also welcome and encouraged to be Youth Deacons.
Service Learning Trips are an important cornerstone of Youth Ministries here at First Church. Each year, teams of teen volunteers travel to distant locations to devote their time, sweat, and spirit to important service projects. We hope that all First Church teens have the opportunity to participate in these beautiful ( but not always easy) life changing excursions!
2018 - Upcoming trip to Cherryfield, ME - Planning is now underway for our next trip to Cherryfield, Maine from August 5-11, 2018. We will be working with Maine Seacoast Mission with their housing rehabilitation program. High School and college youth are encouraged to apply, including youth ages 15 and older. We are also in need of adults with carpentry skills and the willingness and ability to be team leaders. Applications are available now and space is limited to 20 participants. Applications are available with this link or can be picked up from the church office or requested by email. The cost is $350 for youth, and we will raise at least half of that cost with fundraisers. All youth applicants must submit a nonrefundable $50 fee with each application. Youth and adults who participate in our Youth Service Trip are expected to be involved with our fundraisers and help lead worship on August 12. Scholarships are available. Please note the application deadline is March 30. For more information, please email Pastor Adrienne at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 860-688-7229, x15.
Young people 9th grade or higher who have not been previously confirmed are invited to join our next Seeking Disciples confirmation class. Confirmation classes begin each Fall and run through the school year. If you are curious about your faith, the Bible, the UCC, what it means to do mission in the world or the practice of spirituality in your everyday life, then this is the group for you! We meet on Sunday evenings twice per month and have special trips and service projects throughout the year. Conversation, worship, field trips, retreats, food, games, mentors and fellowship are all part of this faith exploration experience. If you are interested in joining the 2018-2019 Confirmation Class, please see Pastor Adrienne.

Are you in middle or high school and musically talented? Join our Youth Band! We are especially looking for singers, percussionists and a pianist. If you love music and enjoy spending time with other youth, you are welcome! We are working on contemporary songs and regularly perform in worship and at other events.
Youth Deacons provide assistance with worship services, including handing out bulletins, greeting members and first time visitors, collecting the offering, and assisting the Deacons with other tasks as needed. Youth Deacons are assigned to a worship service on a rotating basis from September to June.
