Programs

The FCELC currently offers three different programs.

Full-Day Program

Our Full Day Program is child care with a nursery school component. This program operates year-round and transitions from a structured atmosphere to a camp-like atmosphere during July and August. Our Full Day Program is split into two classes, one for our three-year-olds and one for our four-years-olds. Each class has a maximum capacity of 20 students and has a 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio. Learn more about our Full Day Program.

Half-Day Program

Our Half Day Program is often considered as nursery school or pre-school. This program operates from September to June and follows the Windsor Public School System Calendar. Our Half Day Program is a combined class of 3 and 4-year-olds. The class has a maximum capacity of 15 students and has an 8 to 1 student to teacher ratio. Learn more about our Half Day Program.

Summer Camp

Our Summer Camp takes the place of our Half Day Program during July and August. This program is available for children from 3 to 6 years old. Learn more about our Summer Camp

Full-Day Program: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Our Full-Day program at First Church Early Learning Center is structured so that each child's development is self-paced. Learning at this level must be carefully planned, yet based on the spontaneous interest of children. The basis for our daily educational planning is to focus on the interests of the children while incorporating the Connecticut State Department of Education Preschool Assessment Framework, the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, and NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards. The children engage in preschool curriculum and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of individual, small group, and large group fine motor, gross motor, and social activities throughout the year. Through Creative Curriculum and play-based learning, the children have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas in the classroom including but not limited to art, blocks, science, math, sensory, dramatic play, and toys and games to enhance their critical thinking skills.

Our Full-Day program operates year-round and follows a traditional school calendar, starting in September and continuing through June. In July and August, the Full-Day program follows more of a summer camp schedule.

Parents have numerous opportunities to stay connected with their children's learning at First Church Early Learning Center. Through communication, progress reports, and conferences, the teachers can update parents with information about each child's growth and development. Our open-door policy, and family events, are just a few other ways parents can stay involved at our school!
