Worried about Identify Theft?

Have you wondered what to do with those confidential records that are due for destruction? You know just throwing them in the trash is not secure (nor environmen-tally friendly). Recycling confi-dential records does not ensure the papers are destroyed – some become packaging filler, some become scratch pads. Paying for a certified shredding company to come to your office would take too much out of your already limited budget.
There is a solution! Better Business Bureaus, other community groups and companies around the country at times sponsor free shredding days. Some occurred on May 3rd. For a sample of shredding events check the below link:

One benefit of utilizing a certified shredding company over an office shredder is that using an office shredder means all of your confidential infor-mation is still in one bag/place, making it easier for someone to reconstruct the documents. By using a certified shredding company, your records are shredded according to national standards and the shredded material is mixed in with many other organizations’ and companies’ records. Shredding companies also recycle the shredded material, so you are still being environmentally con-scious. Before shredding anything, be sure to consult your records retention schedule and your legal council and/or financial advisor to be certain the records can be legally destroyed.
